Erin Wallace

Dahlia #1 | encaustic mixed media, 2023

As a self-taught creative, my journey into the world of art has been one of exploration and discovery. My current work focuses on encaustic mixed media, where I blend my passion for digital photography, fabric, and various embellishments into the wax medium. This combination allows me to create pieces with varied texture and depth, encouraging viewers to examine the layers and details within each work.

I love being a resident artist at Daylight Artist Collective, where I'm inspired and supported by a lively community of fellow artists. Being involved with The Ohio State University Medicine & the Arts board and serving as the former vice president of the Arts Council of Westerville have also added so much to my artistic journey, offering chances to merge art with community and educational initiatives. Additionally, my experience as the previous art program manager for the James Art Program has been invaluable, providing me with opportunities to curate and manage diverse art exhibitions, further enriching my understanding and appreciation of artistic expression.

Recently, I was honored to be nominated as an Emerging Artist of the Year for 2024 by the Arts Council of Westerville. This recognition has been a significant milestone in my career, affirming my dedication to my craft and my commitment to sharing art with others.

In addition to creating art, I am passionate about teaching and sharing my knowledge of encaustic techniques. I conduct workshops and enjoy engaging with the community through farmers markets and other local events. These interactions let me share my love of art and be inspired by diverse, creative individuals.

Through my work, I aim to spark curiosity and foster a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of mixed media art.

Erin is a staff member in the IT Training & Optimization department - Wexner Medical Center.
