Jacks | Ceramics, 2024

This abstract piece is titled "Jacks", as inspired by the childhood game. The large size and hostile spiking pattern deviates from the traditional metal 6-point jack, representing the unpredictable changes we undergo with age and the tragedies we face in life, while the primary colors and playfulness of the pieces serves as a reminder of youth, and that happiness can be found despite these burdens we accrue.

The piece is made of brown stoneware clay and underglazes fired to cone 6, or around 2250F. All parts are wheel thrown then assembled

Daniel is a student at the College of Medicine.
