Hive in the Heyday | Collage transfer, mixed media 2020
I grew up in a rural Montana town on the Flathead Indian Reservation in the Rocky Mountains. I have always been curious about my environment and how I relate to it. As a non-native resident I often felt a sense of “otherness,” and struggled to figure out where I belonged. I'm inspired by the rich environment I lived in, first on a honey farm and later at a salvage yard. These contrasting settings often feature in my work as I explore themes of nostalgia, identity, and place
