Grand Canyon Afternoon | Oil paint on stretched canvas 2022

Grand Canyon Afternoon: 16x20 Oil on Stretched Canvas. I do mostly landscape paintings, some on-site and some in the studio from photos I’ve taken. I want the viewers of my paintings to feel what I felt when I looked at that subject. In this case, it was my first trip to the Grand Canyon and I knew I wanted to convey the awe I felt looking over the rim of the canyon. The colors, rock layers, distance, and beauty of the place were amazing. I hope this painting shows viewers all of those things when they see it. Just being there, and really looking at the places I paint, fills my soul.
