In the soft glow of sunrise, Ajelo, dressed in vibrant red, stands with his dog and a caged bird, all facing the first light of day in Trinidad, Cuba. Shadows stretch across the cobblestone streets, adding depth to the city’s colonial charm. Captured during a 2024 photography exploration of Cuba, this image reflects life’s contrasts—freedom and enclosure, light and darkness, solitude and companionship—woven into the everyday moments of Cuban life.
