When You Hear Hoof Beats Think… | Photography, 2023

Often in medicine when looking at a patient’s symptoms, we diagnose them with the most common ailments.  This is partly because we see these ailments most often and partly because looking for a zebra in a herd of horses can be a daunting task.  Clinicians are regularly saddled with time and financial constraints that make this a near impossibility. My own medical history is a reminder of why the next time you hear hoof beats you should think they may belong to a zebra and not a horse.
