This photograph was taken in July, 2017 during a photographic expedition to Katmai National Park in southern Alaska where the grizzly bears are protected.  Observing the behavior of the bears was an educational and exhilarating experience. As long as we were quiet and still they paid no attention to us and came as close as 50 feet!  I have a great love of nature and wildlife photography so this was a perfect getaway from the rigors of my professional life, now primarily teaching in my retirement.  A telephoto lens in program mode was used for this photo. The mother bear was very accommodating and the cubs obviously enjoyed their meal.  It was one of hundreds that I took. One of my favorite trips!!!
